D. Clint Burnett is a historian of early Christianity who focuses on using material culture, inscriptions, coins, papyri, and archaeology, to reconstruct the history of first century Christianity and to interpret Paul’s epistles and Acts of the Apostles. To date, his publications include two books, Studying the New Testament Through Inscriptions: An Introduction (2020) and Christ’s Enthronement at God’s Right Hand and Its Greco-Roman Cultural Context (2021), and several articles in prominent journals.
Clint lives in Knoxville, TN and is an independent scholar. His current writing projects include a book on imperial cults and Paul the apostle (Eerdmans) and a collection of important inscriptions from interpreting the New Testament (Hendrickson). Both of these works will include numerous pictures of archaeological sites as well as inscriptions, coins, and artifacts from museums across the world, which Clint has to pay for himself.
